About this project

Our women's first VIII is still racing a 2005 hull. Help us buy a new racing eight — and give it a name worth shouting from the bank.

Story:

The Lady Cecily has served Wrenfield women's rowing for twenty-two seasons. She has carried three Head of the River crews, survived one memorable collision with a swan, and been patched more times than anyone will admit.

She deserves a rest. Our women's first VIII deserves a boat that matches their ambition — lighter, stiffer and faster off the start. A new competition eight, with oars and rigging, costs £35,000.

Reach the target and every donor gets a vote on the new boat's name. The shortlist will be chosen by the crew. (No, 'Boaty McBoatface' will not be on it.)

Impact levels:

  • £10 — A new seat pad for a long winter of training

  • £30 — A season of boat-cleaning kit

  • £75 — One rigger bolt set — the bits that keep it all together

  • £300 — A new oar blade in Wrenfield colours

  • £2,500 — One seat in the new boat — engraved with your name
